While the conventional city is a mass of static, disconnected and inherent structures that operate independently and without considering each other and their surroundings, in living systems each entity maintains a continuous symbiotic relationship with other entities. It is this important systemic interaction that gives them resilience and the ability to deal with changes in the environment. What if our future cities functioned like these complex systems in an era characterized by rapid and extreme changes?
'Digital Metabolism' is a theoretical project that presents a speculative reality to a space that behaves as a living system, an organism. The project is located in the field of digital architecture and uses parametric design in order to imitate the behavior of living systems.
The project deals with 'complexity theory' and presents a morpho-utopia vision for a 'city-building' built from a basic 'cell' unit and producing a complex system of internal connections and information flow between the parts of the system, which, like natural systems, strives for balance and self-organization to create morphology Adaptive and energetically efficient. Future metabolism with digital tools, which explores the theme of the 'unit' to the 'whole' to create an evolutionary and dynamic space.
